A design toolkit for personalising dementia care.

How might we design for the future of dementia care?

A toolkit for designers and healthcare professionals.

Designers and healthcare professionals have different knowledge, experiences and skills in personalising dementia care. These two disciplines are, at the moment, quite separated.

The Know-me toolkit aims to bridge this gap, as it can be used by both designers and healthcare professionals, either together or independently. It also contains literature reviews from both the medical and design literature as the scientific background, which makes it suitable for training and education.

In this preface, you can find out why the Know-me toolkit is needed. It contains four tools and a user manual. This toolkit is created based on Gubing Wang’s PhD journey. If you have any questions and suggestions, please get in touch!

The user manual

This user manual intends to connect the four tools in the toolkit (Capability cards, Co-design guide, Data exploration guide and Person-centred canvas). If you want to have a structure about how to apply these tools in your design process, refer to this manual.

“As a designer who knows nothing about people with dementia, this toolkit just helps me to get started.”

— Yuxiang W., graduated Master student
